covering up mental illness struggle

Society has yet to understand the depths to which mental illness wreaks havoc on our lives and the lives of those around us. We are forced get up and go to work everyday even when physically getting out of bed and brushing our teeth is more demanding than running a marathon. I know that especially on those days I must be extra kind to myself. Adjust my expectations and know that it's okay that I am not going to be at full capacity. I will get back there. For now, I have to throw on my shades, look myself in the mirror and remember I am a badass...just for getting out of bed. Forget that others would think it is foolish. Try this brain on for size and then we can talk.

She say this face that you see, Is destined for history. - Michael Jackson
